I have always been active. When I was in high school I exercised in the morning to Charlene Prickett. That got me into loving to exercise. I either watched exercise shows on TV or went to the gym. Along with exercise I tried to eat right. It was in the 80s so we were into the thinking that your diet should comprise of very little fat. Consequently, people got fat.
I actually didn’t gain weight until I started working at a job where there was always junk food. My daughter was eight years old at the time. The food was so addicting and made me depressed. I did not realize at the time the affects the wrong kind of food was having on my body and my brain.
Since I never really gained weight before and I was very active, I thought I could eat anything and exercising would burn the calories. Later on circumstances in my life prevented me from eating right. I kept gaining weight. This lasted for about seven years.
Two years ago I started running. I was overweight and very active. I could not understand why I could not lose weight. Besides running I went to the gym five days a week.
During training runs with my running group on Saturdays I was always with the last group (the slowest group). At the beginning I was afraid I would not be able to even stay up with them. Over several months, I started to change my eating habits.
Finally I was starting to lose weight. As the pounds came off, I began to get faster at running also. I guess part of it is I didn’t have as much weight to carry, so I could go faster. Three months later I was down to my normal weight and was in great shape. I lost 60 pounds.
Everyone around me saw my transformation and was amazed by it. I still get comments from people who remembered me before I lost the weight.

I want to start a blog to give other people who are overweight and regularly exercise inspiration and motivation on their journey to losing weight. I will be writing about one post a week which will include some nutritional advice (although I am not a nutritionist) that has helped me. Also I will share about research that I have found that is interesting and that may help my readers.
My goal is to help people who are overweight and exercise regularly to lose weight without counting calories by providing nutritional and exercise advice.
