Top 10 Tips To Lose Weight

To lose weight easily can be achieved by adding a healthy diet change to your daily routine every day until it becomes a natural way of life for you.  Losing weight can be hard.  Many people have been on different diets which may or may not have worked, but usually, the weight comes back on and we try another diet.  Diets that work and makes you feel great becomes habits that become a lifestyle.  Below I give you ten tips on how to lose weight by introducing these habits into your life every day.

  1. Drink more water to lose weight

    Most of us are dehydrated because we don’t drink enough water.  You should be drinking half your body weight in ounces of water.  Here is a simple formula to calculate how many ounces of water you should be drinking a day:  weight (in lbs) x 1/2 = __ oz of water.  Drinking more water will help you lose weight.  Next time you fell like you are hungry, drink some water before eating any food.  It may be that you are just thirsty.

  2. Add lemon to your water for more benefits

    Add lemon to your water for added benefits.  Preferably drink lemon water first thing in the morning and 20 minutes before each meal.  Drinking lemon water on an empty stomach helps prepare the stomach for better digestion and helps the kidneys flush out toxins.  Waiting 20 minutes before you eat gives your body time to digest it and to start working.

  3. Physical activity

    Exercise burns calories, which helps you to lose weight.  If we exercise we will be able to eat more without gaining weight.  Physical activity is also important to keep everything working well in your body.  The benefits besides losing weight and having toned muscles are increased mood, increased energy levels, and improved clarity.

  4. Eat more clean food

    Look at nutrition labels when buying food and choose the ones with the least ingredients.  Clean food is food that is in its most natural state.  Processed foods have chemicals added which are harmful to our bodies.

  5. Crowd out foods

    Instead of thinking about eliminating food, think about adding healthy foods to your diet.  Add more fruit, vegetables, legumes and nuts.  Eventually, you will naturally crowd out the bad food.  This is also a great technique to use for bad habits.

  6. Less sugar

    Sugar is very addictive and makes you hungrier.  When you eat sugar, you feel great at first because you get a sugar high which gives you lots of energy.  But then, about an hour later, you crash.  You lose your energy and feel tired and hungry.  Naturally, you eat more to get that high again.  Reduce your sugar intake to stop this roller coaster ride.

  7. Sleep 7-9 hours every night

    Your body needs time to recover, both physically and mentally.  During sleep, the toxins that have been built up during the day are flushed from your brain. The brain takes this time while you are asleep to integrate the new things you learned during the day with what you already know.  Being sleep deprived makes us hungry, so we eat more during the day.

  8. Eliminate dairy

    Dairy products are not good for our digestion.  About 65 percent of people are diagnosed with being lactose intolerant, and more people have it but are not diagnosed.  Drink almond or coconut milk instead.  Another benefit of giving up dairy is better skin and less bloating.

  9. Add good fats to your diet

    For decades we were told to cut fats to lose weight.  Now we know that is a lie.  The important thing is to eat the right kinds of fats, such as olive oil, avocado, fish, nuts, natural peanut butter and dark chocolate.  Your body needs fats to function.  It helps to absorb and process nutrients and protects our organs.

  10. Stay away from “diet” foods

    Reduced calories, fat-free, low-fat are labels that we tend to believe are better for us.  Actually, it usually means more sugar is added and the good fats were taken out.  Read the nutrition label and be wary of these “diet” foods.  Diet foods do not help you lose weight.  It does just the opposite.  Sugar turns to fat in your body.

If you want to succeed at losing weight by incorporating each of these tips into your daily routine, introduce one tip at a time.  Start with the first tip, then wait a week before doing the next tip.  Trying to change too many things at once will most likely end in frustration and failure.
